Chemistry Questions! Please help!!?

1. How is a bond between Na and Cl different from a bond between C and O? What about a bond between N and N? Why are some bonds ionic and some covalent?

2. Knowing that the reactions between hydrogen gas (H2) and oxygen gas (O2) to from water is exothermic, which would you say is greater: the average bond energies for hydrogen and oxygen, or the bond energies for water? Explain.

3. What is meant by the term "electronegativity,"? What are the trends across and down the periodic table for electronegativity? Explain them, and how they are consistent with the trends of IE and atomic radii.

4. Write the proper charges so that an alkali metal, a noble gas, and a halogen have the same electron configurations. What is the number of protons in each? Number of electrons in each? How many filled energy levels do each have? Arrange them from smallest to largest IE and explain. Arrange them from smallest to largest radii and explain.

5. Why is there an octet rule (what does octet mean) in writing the Lewis structure? By looking at Lewis structures, can we tell which electrons from which atoms? Why or why not?
