1. Calculate the theoretical percent water in NiC2O4·2H2O. Use as many significant figures as available, based upon the elemental molar masses acquired from the periodic table.

2. a. Calculate the experimental percent water in NiC2O4·2H2O when a student recorded that a 2.491 g sample of NiC2O4·2H2O had a mass of 1.926 g after drying. Record your experimental percent of water using the proper number of significant figures and units.

b. Calculate the percent error using the student’s results (2. a.) and the theoretical percent water in problem number 1.

3. Write the balanced chemical equation for a reaction where Na2CO3·10H2O is heated to remove all the water of hydration.

4. Calculate the empirical formula for the hydrated compound having an initial mass of 0.1218 grams, and a final mass of the anhydrate of 0.0778 grams. The molar mass of the anhydrate is 159.62 g/mol.
