Multi Step Equation Word Problem

Multi Step Equation Word Problem

Nope, not homework. Just trying to improve my math skills.

The question is:

Twenty-three less than 6 times the quantity of a number (x) decreased four equals seven. Find the numbers.

Now, my skills are awful so don't laugh but I set this up with

6x-23-4 = 7.

6x- (-27)= 7

6x = 34

However, as I have the answer, I know this is wrong. WHERE did I go wrong (yes, i am sure it was a simple stupid basic mistake but if anyone could hep me, this would be great.

How do I set this up in the right way:

"Twenty-three less than 6 times the quantity of a number (x) decreased four equals seven. Find the numbers."

THANKS!
