Two body object physics problems!?

Two body object physics problems!?

Hey I don't really understand how to do these questions. If you could explain how to do it that would be great.

1.Car B moving ahead of Car A at a speed of 17.9m/s. When the cars are 500m apart, Car A starts to slow down at a rate of 0.15m/s^2 from its initial speed of 31.3m/s

a)Will the cars crash?

b)Will the cars crash if they are separated by a distance of 1610m?

2.A tortoise and a hare have a 25.0m race. The tortoise moves at a slow but constant 0.101m/s while the hare accelerates from rest at 0.500m/s^2. The hare magnanimously gives the tortoise a 4.00 minute head start.

a)Who wins?

b)Fifteen weeks later, having taken Grade 11 Physics, a wiser and more analytical hare, asks for a rematch. This time the hare has done some calculations. What will be the maximum head start that the hare can give the tortoise and still win the race?

Thanks in advance
