1. two rooms share a 0.12 m thick brick wall (r = 0.84), but are otherwise perfectly insulated. Each room is a 4.0 m cube. If the air in one room is 10 degrees C and the others is 30 d C, how many 100 W light-bulbs are required in the warmer room to maintain the temperature difference?

2. estimate how long it would take to melt 9.5 kg of 0 degree C Ice if it is placed in a sealed 30 cm by 35 cm by 50 cm styrofoam box with a thickness of 1.5cm. Assume r = 0.046 and the outside temp is 30 degrees C.
