Help with Chemistry molecular formula problem.?

American's spend about $800 million a year on mouthwash. Listerine contains thymol, extracted from the herb thyme, as its active ingredient. Thymol effectively kills mold and bacteria, but has quite a pungent taste. So to mask the thymol, other better-tasting oils are added. One is eugenol, the oil of cloves, which contains only carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms. Combustion of 2.78mg of eugenol in excess oxygen gas produces 7.46mg of carbon dioxide and 1.83mg of water vapor. If the molar mass of eugenol is experimentally determined to be 170 ± 10 g/mole, what is it's molecular formula?

Please explain each individual step for me. Thanks
