Three blocks, connected together by mass-less strings as shown in the
picture below, are being pulled along by a horizontal force of magnitude 𝐹. Between
blocks 𝐵 and 𝐶 the tension magnitude is 𝑇. The tension magnitude in the string between
blocks 𝐴 and 𝐵 is unknown. Let each block have the following mass: 𝑚𝐴 for block 𝐴, 𝑚𝐵
for block 𝐵, and 𝑚𝐶 for block 𝐶. The coefficient of kinetic friction for each block is 𝜇𝑘.
Ignore air resistance.

a) Determine is the magnitude of the acceleration of block 𝐵. Express your answer in
terms of the following variables: 𝑚𝐴, 𝑚𝐵, 𝑚𝐶, 𝑇, 𝐹, and/or 𝜇

b) Using your answer from part (a) determine the magnitude of the tension in the
string between blocks 𝐴 and B. Express your answer in terms of the following
variables: 𝑚𝐴, 𝑚𝐵, 𝑚𝐶, 𝑇, 𝐹, and/or 𝜇𝑘.

c) Determine the magnitude of the force 𝐹⃗. Express your answer in terms of the
following variables: 𝑚𝐴, 𝑚𝐵, 𝑚𝐶, 𝑇, and/or 𝜇𝑘.
