Need help understanding pH level and TDS in water!?

I have a statistics project due and i wanted to sample the pH levels and TDS in different brands of bottled water. I need to understand more about this subject first. I know TDS measures all dissolved solids (even the good ones) so a TDS test would not show if a bottle was unhealthy correct?
To see if it was unhealthy is where i assume a pH test would come in. I know a good level is between 6 and 8.5 but what does it mean if its outside of those limitations? What does hard/soft water mean?

Now i want all this research to be pratical to anyone who buys bottled water so i was wondering if the bottled water was "unhealthy" would it even affect our bodies since it is just a tiny amount?

The main thing i want to figure out is what are the health risks associated with "unhealthy" bottled water?
Any information is helpful, thanks!
