Balanced Ecosystem question?



In a simple ecosystem, there were wolves and deers living in balance, with no rate of change in both population numbers. If a disease is introduced (not continuous - instant) to the wolves, what impact will it have on both population. Initially, the wolves' population will decline sharply but will the wolves population regain back to balance due to the increased number of deers? If that is the case, will the numbers go back to what was initially present?
