Mechatronics or mechanical engineering to get into aerospace engineering?



I'm at VU studying engineering and I'm going to transfer to Deakin university. I ultimately want to do aerospace next year and I was wondering, would it be wise to do mectronics and aerospace together? Or mechanical and aerospace together?. The reason i ask is because I want to do cross institutional study at Monash aerospace and I want to know which would should I go for at Deakin. Mechatronics or mechanical ? 
( I honestly want to mechatronics as my chances are better in getting into it) 
I live in Victoria Australia
