I have a bio 12 question can anyone who knows any biology please help me! I have no clue what the answer is!?

Here's the question! During a medical treatment a portion of a person's thyroid gland was damaged, resulting in a reduction in thyroxine production from the damaged area. Explain the effect on the patient and how the patient's body would react in order to restore thyroxine levels back to normal. (Mention specific homeostatic mechanisms or control adjustments made in the body. 'Medications' are not included in these adjustments.)
