When 3 out of 4 mechanical engineers quit within a year what does that say about a company?

I've been browsing for other jobs lately. I have a job but I want to do something different, go to a company where I can grow. Or go to a smaller company where you get to learn a bit of everything.
I went to an interview at this company that seemed interesting. They are a small company with 40 employees and 7 engineers - 4 mechanical, 3 electrical engineers.
I got the grand tour and I got to meet some people, asked some questions and so on. It seemed like a good company. However they are FAR more desperate than I thought.

Of the 4 mechanical engineers, like I am, 3 have quit the last year. So now they have one working full time and one that is on his notice. I got a little worried. A company that has 4 mechanical engineers means that each and every one of them is very important. And when one leaves they leave a huge gap. But now 3 have left. There is a reason they would leave. They didn't leave because they were happy. They called me and offered me the job. The pay wasn't anything special but still. I just feels a bit weird to me. I wonder who would teach me properly if I took it. What do you think?
