Math homework I need help with please?

I recently got some math homework which I have no idea how it works. 

Can u please show the working out along with the answer? Thanks! 

The diagonals of a quadrilateral ABCD meet at O. It is known that |ABO| = 6cm^2, |BOC| = 4cm^2, |AOD| = 9cm^2. Find |COD| and show that BC is Parallel to AD. 

If possible, please try to explain using words, where the ABCD is and where the O is and how everything works together. Thanks!
