Consider a bathtub where you are conducting a balance on the water. 
You close the drain and turn on the water and the bathtub fills with water. After some time, you turn the water off but leave the drain open. The water level begins to fall. 
(note in = input, out = output, gen = generation, cons = consumption, and acc = accumulation) 

a)in – out + gen - cons = acc
b)out - cons = 0 
c)out = acc 
d)-out = acc 
e)-cons = acc
