Elastin

Certain organs, such as lungs, arteries and some ligaments, have the ability to stretch their walls due to the presence  of elastic fibers. These fibers are called elastin, composed of proteins which have predominance of glycine residues(one-third of residues). The elastin contains besides glycine, a high proportion of alanine, proline and valine residues. The structure of elastin is not fully known.
