Electrophoresis
Separation of desired proteins can be achieved by the electrophoretic technique where isolation is
carried out in an electric field. The proteins to be separated are placed in an electrical field and their mobility depends on the net electrical changes on the molecule. There are several variations of this technique, but the most sensitive method is the polyacrylmide gel electrophoresis. The polyacrylamide gel (PAGE) is placed in narrow glass tubes acting as support medium. This is the most sensitive method in which pore size of gel can be adjusted by manipulating the concentration of gel.
