Normalization

dz is proportional (not equal) to the probability of finding the electron in the given volume element dz. However, if we have a value of such that the integration of form- to  , that is, over the entire space, is not proportional but equal to  total probability of finding the electron hen the probability that the electron is prison within the volume element ( )become unity .
Mathematically, it is expressed as :

This is the condition of normalization and satisfying this expression is said to be normalized. This is quite a reasonable restriction because probability must become certainty somewhere in the universe. Sometimes may not be normalized wave function but then it is possible to multiply it by a constant N, so that, Nis also a solution to the wave equation. The problem is to choose the proper value of N, so that, N is normalized, Mathematically, the expression becomes:
