Functional testing is a testing strategy where testing is based on the functionality of the program. Functional testing refers to testing which involves only observation of the output for certain input values. There is no attempt to analyze the code, which produces the output. The internal structure of the code is ignored. Therefore, functional testing is also known as Black Box Testing. Functionality of these black box is understood completely in terms of its inputs and output. In functional testing the internal structure of the code is ignored and only functionality is considered.
