Software Reliability Plan

The following is a sample outline for a software reliability plan derived from sets of plans published by IEEE, SEI and ISO. The plan is kept to a minimum and is used as a companion to the project software risk plan. Software reliability is expensive to institute in a software development organization. Therefore, the reliability plan must address the specific risks mitigated and the cost of this mitigation. The impact on the project’s return on investment must be identified and fed forward into the overall software project plan.
