Induced Charges

Suppose we hold a charge + q near an uncharged conductor. The charge + q will pull minus charges over to the near side and repel plus charges to the far side. But the negative induced charge to the far side. But the negative induced charge on the conductor is nearer to +q than the positive charge on the conductor. So there is a net force of attraction. Hence the two will attraction another.
