Production planning deals with the preparation of short and long term production programmers. It comprises routing, scheduling and preparation of order. Production planning function includes the preparation of demand schedules for various kinds of materials, manpower and production facilities required at various points of time.

Production control includes the activity of dispatching, follow-up and corrective actions. It includes.
1.    Release of orders, drawings, specification sand production instruction to manufacturing
2.    Check-up of the availability of materials, tools, equipments etc. to various operation centers
3.    Production progress in accordance to schedules, quality and cost standards.
4.    Report all deviations form performance standards to the management.
