While strategy is determination of the purpose and allocation of resources to achieve that purpose, tactics are the action plans through which strategies are executes. Strategies are put into practice through tactics. Strategies, to be effective, must be supported by tactics. Strategies are the basic plans to achieve organizational objectives and tactics are the supporting plans that help in implementing the basic plans. Tactics help in exertion of strategies. Thus, have a long-term orientation towards organizational objectives and tactics have a short-term orientation.
