Polynomial Functions
A function of the form
f (x) = a0xn + a1xn-1 +.....+ an
Where n is a nonnegative integer and a0,a1,....,an are constants with a0 ≠ 0, is called a polynomial function in x of degree n, a0 is called the leading coefficient.
For example, the function f (x) = 2x3 – 5x2 + 7x + 1 is polynomial function in x of degree 3.
Note that a linear function is a polynomial of degree 1 and a quadratic function is a polynomial of degree 2. The domain of any polynomial is the set of all real numbers.
